Trend Report: 2019 Fashion Trends and How to Style Them
You’ve seen them in the runway, but can you see yourself wearing them? Sure, those supermodels with perfect proportions and gazelle-like silhouettes may look fantastic in everything, but how can a ordinary human being actually wear 2019’s latest fashion trends off of the catwalk?
Well, this one’s for you—from one regular human to another.
All the Ruffles
Guess what Meghan Markle’s wore for her pre-Christmas lunch hosted by the Queen? A ruffle neck dress by Erdem. That’s right, ruffles are back and they are bigger and better!
You can get as creative as you wish with ruffles, just make sure that you give them the attention they deserve by pairing them with more muted details. Or heck, go all out and pair it with bold prints! To be honest, the best part of dressing up is playing around with your clothes. If you need inspiration, check out Marc Jacobs’ gigantic ruffled dress in all shades of sorbet. Whether you go minimal or absolutely barbaric, adding ruffles will surely liven your outfit and your day. This Willow and Clay dress is proof enough! And hey, if it’s good enough for the Duchess of Sussex, it’s good enough for us.
Biker Shorts
I’m sure you’ve seen it all over Instagram by now, and you either raised your brow or squealed in delight. The Hadids loved them and the Kardashians wear them perfectly. These biker shorts took a lot of media attention as they made their way to the most coveted catwalks and into every influencer’s closet.

Biker shorts are the perfect balance of comfort and style. Pair them with a tux to create a professional street style look or don them with a sweater on a lazy Saturday. Or if it’s really not your style, toss them in the back corner of your closet and wait until the trend dies down! Whichever camp you’re in, these biker shorts are definitely going to change the fashion game.
Wild Prints
Animal prints are coming back, and it’s going to be crazier than ever! Not only are we seeing it in the comparatively subdued hues of tan and black, but this 2019, we’ll be seeing these prints in vibrant hues.
If you’re absolutely gaga over prints, check out Tom Ford’s collection. I can’t believe those colors and prints can even sit together in a palette, but leave it to Tom Ford to design that perfectly. We’re talking about purples and oranges with leopard spots here. Meanwhile, Christian Cowan revealed a marvelous sequin and zebra print ensemble that just made my heart skip a beat.
Not sure where to begin? Wearing the O.G. colors isn’t a fashion faux pas yet, and it’s a great way to get comfortable with the trend. This Beyond Proper dress is a beautiful jump off point.
Fringes
Channeling the 80’s vibe like it’ll never get tired, the fringe is all over the runway again from Giorgio Armani to Balmain. We’re seeing them in dazzling silver in sparkly holiday skirts and long beady dresses that are perfect for dancing.

To incorporate it into your daily look, layer on a neutral-colored cardigan with fringe layers over a simple tee and jeans ‘fit. Add some tan shoes to complete the boho chic look. This is a perfect casual out-and-about wear for days when you just want to feel comfortable.
